Horizon Dusk by Alejandro N. Marrero 7/26/2020
The mind is a calamity on the approaching horizon
It speaks of wants as needs and has you buy them
There was a day when we once only lived for a smile
How long ago were those days and where is that inner child?
There’s fire in the distance and it’s searching for it’s prey
There’s a crack in your armor as a wound is on display
How long till the storm has passed and left us well and wet?
The news is always on in people’s homes the truth hasn’t been revealed yet.
A vision of twilight on ember colored skies
It’s reached our shore there is no safe place for us to hide
There is a hunger inside our minds and distant reveries
You just have to feed it everything even the least pleasant of your memories
My mind is a calamity on the nearing horizon
It speaks of wants as needs and has us buy them
There was a day when we once only lived for a genuine maternal smile
How long ago were those days and why does life now hand us only trials
